Goodnight & Goodbye

I now must say goodnight my friend,
I’m afraid to your time has come
You have lived a long and shining life
All that can be has been done

Just gently close your eyes my sweet
And welcome long awaited sleep
Please have no fear my dear
There is no need to weep

Don’t be scared, don’t be sad
A better life will greet you soon
Happiness with be your friend
As you follow that sweet tune

I’ll miss you more than possible
So please don’t you do fret
You’ll always stay inside me
Not with pain nor with regret

Your picture book of memories
I know is mine to keep
So please ignore my tears
And sink down into sleep

All I’ll say is I‘m sorry for
Things that have not been said
I promise I will repay you
With pure peace instead

I now must say goodnight my friend
You and I now must part
But don’t you worry my dear friend
You’re always my heart.

That's beautiful,
a couple of things that could be altered but it sometimes helps to read it aloud before you post it because you notice things you don't when you are writing it.

A very beautiful poem though. I'm sorry to hear about that.
Don't be sorry for the things that were left unsaid, a true friend will know how important they are.

Brilliant write.
