I thought I'd buy you a gift this Christmas
I know you told me not to get you one
I didn't think I'd tell you about it
while you were lying here on a hospital bed
and I didn't think I wouldn't be able to
talk in coherent sentences while you were
in a coma like that
I didn't think it would be so awkward

When we talked on the phone before you refused to let me
get you anything but I just did it anyway
I don't think I can really apologize

I love you Mom
I wanted to visit you sometime
I wanted to thank you for all you did for me

When you died I didn't know what to say
I still don't

I am sorry for your loss. Losing someone we love is never easy. I am sure your mom knew you loved her and it was hard also for her to tell you goodbye. I understand why you got her a gift anyway. Take Care and God bless!

she must have known she was soon going away and did not want you to make a fuss wrapping a gift for her ...moms are like that. So if you were there in her last hours, even if you did not say anything, just kinowing of your presence must have comforted her.

how painful this comes across to me. I swear I know how that works, and that emotion in a person.

Losing someone you love can be really tough, especially when it's your mom... But trust me, eventhough your pain of missing her doesn't go away, she lives on in your beautiful poems!
