No need to plead my case, for it falls on deaf ears, All these years are filled with empty promises, Ambitions run amok destroying anything practical, Don’t tell me I am just feeling down, and that it will pass, For this is my life, my thoughts, my hurt, and it will last, My biggest fear is to die knowing I could have done more, Helped more, pushed more, struggled more, felt more, shared more, You can’t just come along and claim to know what I need, This is no magic, or trickery of the mind, or imbalance in my fluids, I stare at an empty room, knowing many have passed through this place, What memories have they left behind, what struggles have the faced, Maybe this is what my life was meant to me, remedial function over courage, Picturing my last breath, a deep sleep, not knowing what happens after, No suicidal tendency here, just a daily visit with reality of death that stares each one of us, Not a curse, rather a brief touch with insanity, backing it up with this distorted reality. I speak insanity. I write fantasy. I sleep reality. |

"Don’t tell me I am just feeling down, and that it will pass, For this is my life, my thoughts, my hurt, and it will last" Beautiful words, wonderful poem. This may be my favorite of your poems. |
