Elements of a broken heart

My heart has burned through, and melted away,
sunk into waters of pure emptiness.
Here in the darkness, is where it will stay,
icy cold in its form, a forgotten bliss.

Surrounded by stillness, mired in silt,
swallowed below in a chasm of guilt.
Elements are diffused, on the surface above,
lingering atoms, memories of love.

All original form is now evaporated,
all functions have ceased, all rhythm,
sedated. Slipping away, waiting one day,
in truth, and in light, to be recreated.

Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured.
