Product Tampered

Cyanide compounds,
chlorinated comounds. Words,
until poisoned by.

Thorazide compounds,
histaminic compounds. Words,
but they hold horrors.

Hog tranquilizers
deliberately misused:
corrupted doctors,
bad pharmacists, bad locksmiths,
bad nurses, bad patients. Words.

Terrorism is
such a thrill at first, I guess.
Then, a little less.

On a somewhat unrelated note, have been looking up a few old haunts and LOL:

User status: banned
Date ban will be lifted: never
"Sour grapes, kid!"

The Internet can be a lonely place on a Saturday night... and it's only Monday noon.

It is strange that there aren't anywhere near as many poetry forums around as there were just a few years ago (well, several years ago, anyway).

So many accounts
made shortly prior to mine---
and there's no post search.
DBAs too often bought,
Gestapo spank---all that rot.

Abuse of power
is pernicious slavery.
Defend against it.

I see that Sea World
is pushing killer shamu
at kiddies again.

Television ad scum have
their reward. God help young minds!

...and on the subject of criminals:

Graft-shiny city
with Himmlers for detectives---
failed chicken farmers.

Grinning they murder the poor.
Hell has rewards for bad cops.

I especially enjoyed the last three lines of the initial piece.  The use of the rhyme for clusure was very deft, and it worked.  I even felt the little bit of a click that I can feel when a poem seems to snick home well in the last line.  Very satisfying.

The prior lines of the poem seemed a bit scattershot, as though they didn't seem to lead up to those last three lines with the directness and concreteness that such a firm closing seems to deserve.

Terry Stokes published a book of poems almost 35 years ago in which one of the characters is a really creepy guy with a razor on a bus.  Stokes puts you inside the guy's skin as he's very specifically hurting somebody and he makes the identification painfully intimate between ready and character in the space of maybe twenty lines.

Do you want to do that?

Probably not, but it's one way of entering into the sort of intimacy of experience that you seem to be reaching for here.  It involves an element of emotional risk for the writer, though, that's very hard to bear, and there are other strategies out there that a guy can feel his way into.

So there's a lot to admire here, and I thought that I might just say a few things that would let you know that I think so.  Because I do.

     Sincerely, Bob Kaven

Thx 4 the reply, altho' I didn't expect many replies to complaining drivel such as this. These are based on true stories and may perhaps strike chords with some, now or later.

As for experience, well, unlawful torture via psychoactive drugging is relatively intimate, especially when combined with other tender mercies favored by today's better-hope-they-never-die fools.

Even at this site, I notice a couple of users who would probably lynch you for using certain non-PC ethnic epithets are 'way too comfortable with dropping "cracker" as a pejorative term. An unworthy sign of the times, it is...
