Confusion

Bury me in the spring
When all the world’s in bloom
And cherry blossoms fall like snow
Neath the mantel of the moon

Weeping should be disallowed
Only the happy countenance here
For if you gather to remember me
Cast off the wayward tear

This is a celebration
Of what was, not what’s to come
And laughter should outweigh the tears
When our time on earth is done

Regardless of what we think we know
Funerals are for the living
As for those of us already dead
No secrets are we giving

So remember me in the days to come
With laughter when the fog is thick
For I’ve written upon my tombstone
“I told you I was sick”

Wow!
I just lost someone very dear to me.
Almost his exact words.
DEFINITELY his way of looking at things.

Thank you so much.

The way persons should be remembered and celebrated.  You put into words my feelings.  Thankyou.

@ LivingConfused- Thank you. I have often thought of funerals as a celebration of ones life. I understand both points I guess but the very fact that we die points out to me at least how precious our time here together truly is and that we should be ever thankful for it.
