Why must good always come to an end?
A crushing heaviness on my chest descends—
My mind has worsened and will not mend,
For me, the feelings are real and are never pretend.

Can something so precious get out of control?
Yes, when the ‘something’ involves two tortured souls,
But if they step back and carefully examine the whole,
Could they fix it, possibly?  Is their strength in their souls?

Why can’t good things last and continue to thrive?
Therapy for our psyche, I want to revive—
The connection that helped us both to survive,
We designed the rules and gave it a ‘test drive’.

Isn’t it true that a ‘test drive’ can eventually fail?
That a ship built with carelessness may never set sail?
And a train lead downhill will almost always derail?
A second chance can be given and good can prevail.

I believe in perfection, trying again and again,
I cannot understand or relate to ‘the end’—
To forget and move on I just cannot comprehend,
I believe there’s a way to make right and to mend—

Aren’t friends just two people who can fully relate?
A rhetorical question I cannot and will never debate.
I now believe that a friend is a different kind of soul mate,
Can I have my friend back?  In my pain I’ll just wait—

To see if this is possible, for it may or may not be—
I know we’d just have to step back and try again, slowly.
To continue the friendship that helped him and helped me,
A thousand times more than a lifetime of trained therapy—

But if ‘the end’ is ‘the end’, then I’ll take my place,
Back into my own world—and let go and erase,
I'll never cause pressure or pain to my fellow ‘head case’—
No matter what, I have memories forever in my mind to embrace.

Yo man. I love the depth in this piece.

"To see if this is possible, for it may or may not be—
I know we’d just have to step back and try again, slowly.
To continue the friendship that helped him and helped me,
A thousand times more than a lifetime of trained therapy—"

Great stuff.
