She weaves a web invisible
of cruel fragile thread.
With blinded mind
and watchful eye,
calls out in song,
"Come firefly".

Wings lost in flight,
and flame aglow
ensconced in the glistening
strands aflow.
Now caught in the cords
of silken iron,
feels the fading
of his amber fire.

Prison of lace
his pending fate;
he sees the ruse,
but much to late.
He stares in anguish
while his quiet hope
screams silently
from its pearly cloak.

Spinning shattered dreams
from her siren's loom,
with a wistful smile
seals the tomb.
Consuming light
from his foolish eyes,
she never seems
quite satisfied.

Drinking deep
from his crimson soul,
leaving just a shell
and a flame now cold.
She walks away
in angered wonder.
she never heard his heart
being torn asunder.

She feigns the tears
from deep set eyes
calling out "Oh, firefly,
why are your wings so still
and not aflight?
Tell me firefly,
where is your light?
