She lives in Technicolor dreams,
ignores the black/white world
of mundane street life.
Even gently muted gray days
that might shade the starkness
cannot sustain her.

It’s only a matter of time
before the dreams darken
into deep dark ebony.

But she has self-esteem,
will not call home
to beg
forgiveness,
ask for help.

She does not believe
it necessary
when all she did
was say
‘No more'
to verbal abuse.

She lives in Technicolor dreams.

But each night,
the colors fade.

I recognize the scenery of that "no more", it's a sad one.

Very intense feelings are displayed here, dear Kacy.

Technicolor dreams should be followed by adequate action I guess, otherwise the colors fade quickly.

Powerful write!

Love,
Margherita

Well this hit me right in the gallbladder!

I too, live in Technicolor dreams...but they are dreams of a home that never actually existed.

grin..kinda like Dorothy and Oz, but reversed.

painful place where nothing is real though.

*hugs*

kat and karen
Thanks for reading. It's something I neede to 'purge' from my need-to-write-it mental data base.
It's generic, as there are hundreds of young people each year who run away to live on the streets, never to return.

Hey Kacy,

She has a lot of strength - enough to overcome the grays of night.  Love to you and this is a keeper poem.

really loved it sometimes dreaming is all we can do .... and the part:

She lives in Technicolor dreams.
But each night,
the colors fade.

it gave me a beautiful picture and made me smile
