My burning cigarette
Filling my lungs with smoke and ash
I'm so oblivious
Treading water of the past
And the lake is still
The air is bitter, cold and dry
Your face is pale
No beauty in your blood shot eyes
The pain I suffered
It makes me sick to think of you
Unlike no other
No one else could put me through
My burning cigarette
Filling my lungs with smoke and ash
I'm not so curious
To find out why it didn't last
I smoke this cigarette
And feel the heat upon my lips
I'm not oblivious
I just can't stand to feel so distant

I like this.

I am no great poet myself, but-

I smell potential.

Some people fall in love and touch the sky, some people fall in love and find quicksand.
