         Now and Then

One falling star vanishes
in the fading Winter twilight
over these cold, barren hills,
while a pure-crisp crescent
   rising
greets the gathering shades
and marshaling shadows
of all lonely, lost and long-
forgotten poets, lovers,
dreamers, and other
unabashedly unrepentant
   fools …
of the elusive ‘now’ and
irrevocable ‘then’
