Falling Apart

Today I remember him,
the twinkle in his eye
that he would say
was my reflection.

How I miss the "counting on"
knowing we could talk,
knowing he was there
whether in times of need
or just "the moment".

No one knows the downfall
that came when he left this earth,
when life for me...
began to fall apart.

I wish to visit today, on his birthday,
but the weather will not permit.
So I celebrate alone in childhood thoughts
when "purpose" was not a need to know.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I remember her unexpectedly when
this handwritten note fell out of my drawer:
"Do not stand and weep at my grave,
I am not there.
I remain in your heart and mind,
do not grieve.
My love to you, will not die with me.
Think kindly of my time with you.
Be good to each other
and cherish my nurturing
of helping you to become what you are.
Think of me what you will, and remember
my love for you will never die.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
but remember and therefore I live."
M
Maureen, this is beautiful.  I am sad that you miss your father and sister, but glad you had a father and sister to miss.  Cherish the memories and know that they are still with you in spirit, especially at difficult times, like Christmas, and know that they will want you to smile, all the way from deep within.
Hugs
Beautifully written, Maureen.  I wish I could just reach out and hug you - then maybe just go for a quiet drive with no destination.
Hugs to you,
Alison
Thank you friends...been a tough year for many of us and maybe even another to come.  The weather is not cooperating this year but if I hadn't been "stuck" in the house I wouldn't have found the note from my sister.
I didn't even remember it from 4 years ago  so maybe it was meant for me to be thinking of someone special in my life during these lonely and trying times.
Thank you, again, (with loving thoughts for a gentler year ahead.)
each word was crafted from both sorrow and hope, with all the love I know you, Maureen, feel.  Just wanted to know that I mourn your loss, also, M, and that every Christmas I think of you, and the beautiful pictures you shared of your Christmas snows, your decorating the tree, even though you didn't have to.  You've keep the spirit of Christmas alive, and I wish there were more  lovely folks like you, Maureen, in the world,
your friend,
Jeff
Thank you Sarah, I appreciate your kind words.
There have been other losses in the last few years also but I am at the age now to expect that. And I know there are many others on here that have  also shared in those experiences.
Thank you, again
Truly poignant, dear Maureen. No, it's not easy to cope with the losses of beloveds who went ahead of us on the path of heaven ...
It's good to have the memories and sometimes we need to dwell in them and release the tears.
Love and hugs.
Margherita
