Enjoy the power of the truthful words you use
......well maybe not.......
You will not understand the power of truthful words you use
when they fail!
But listen to me......
in seasoned years when you think back on lessons truly learned
all in a way you don't use now
so much fertility stayed within you
and how fictitious you really thought.
Yet you were not as old as you imagined!

Keep speaking thoughts that suit you,
don't worry, and know that worrying is about as usable as
trying to change the driving impatience of a fledgling artist.
The real truthful words in life are apt to be missed,
words never used through lack of time,
the words you wanted to say when your heart became full
but when your voice was alone with you in your car.

Speak one truth everyday that scares you.
Peace!
Don't be ruthless with other peoples true words
Don't shut out those people that are truthful with you.
Listen!
Don't use your mind to alienate
sometimes you're cool, sometimes you're disliked.
The road is long and in the race it's only humans you meet.

Remember relatives you've hated, forget their insults
and if you can possibly do this you're a saint!
Greet your old lost lovers,
and bury your old dark feelings.
Love!
Don't be preaching if you don't want
others to hate what you did to their life.
The most penetrating preachers I know
didn't stop at millions when they wanted to seek lonely hearts,
some of them still decieving older people I know.

Get lots of Vitiman C!
Be kind to your children you'll miss them when they're gone.
You might love forever...or maybe just a week....
You might fail in love.....but not if you don't try.
Maybe you'll caress a century!
Maybe you'll play tennis with your 80 year old kids!
Whatever you do don't discipline your youngsters too much!
But don't leave them void of it either.
Your voice is the first choice......when others want to hear it!

Enjoy your music!
Play it every day you can.
Don't be losing your inward art when people don't mention it,
it's the greatest escape you'll ever need.
Sing!
Even if you have a tin ear for it,
do it loudly in the shower
make up the words when you don't remember them.

Do not believe all health food stories
they may only take your money.
Get to know your worst faults
you never know when they'll turn in on you.
Be nice to your neighbours
they're your best link to unity
and the people most likely to work with you in time.
Understand that your kids come and go
with precious grandchildren you always need.
Work hard to keep the love of family as a lifestyle.
The older you get the more mellow the minutes seem to be
when time is on your mind.

Go on a roller coaster once,
and laugh before it makes you cry.
See your favourite performer live
and live before you know you've lost.
Travel!

Don't fool too much with your computer
because you'll only learn how to hurt yourself!

Be careful how much liquor you drink
and don't be the only one to supply it.
Liquor is a tool of euphoria
but drinking too much is a way of floating the past into the future
fixing old mistakes
hiding from the ugly fact
that it's over for more than it's worth.

Listen to me before it's too late!
I'm the ozone layer!

Thank you Nourzihane for the very kind words and for taking the time to read this ramble on life....A lot of it cliches but some retain their value and are timeless.....

Sorry to hear about the troubles in your life.
Thank goodness we have the relief of crying otherwise we might simply explode with the emotional stress.
I feel very complimented that you're going to print this out and I hope it will stmulate confidence in you as you seem to be a very dear sensitive person.
Let's face it, we all need encouragement from time to time there's definitely no shame in that, it's just life.
So glad I have touched you and as you say if my poetry touches just one person then it's all worth it.
Take care and I surely wish you the best now and on into the new years to come.

You brought something home to me with these lines, Ethome. Thank you.

And for reading my recent [old] poem, well, thank you for that too. I note you don't celebrate Christmas, and I don't think you do, either, not in the commercial way. But something tells me you do celebrate the gift of love, and forgiveness, in not only this poem, but in all you've ever shared.

Be well, my friend. Happy New Year!

Eric, You say what we all instinctively know but which we so easily forget.  Thanks for the reminder because even though I try my best to live as you suggest I know I slip every now and again.

Happy holidays.

Hey Sunshine so nice to hear/read from you and I'm glad you liked those lines.

you write....'But something tells me you do celebrate the gift of love, and forgiveness, in not only this poem, but in all you've ever shared.' I have to say I try my best to do just that although it's a rough road sometimes it's alway worth it.

Thank you and take care great to hear from you again.....

thoughts and 'True'isms! One after the other, I found myself nodding and agreeing.A remarkable write! ~ Remarkable you!

Love from a fellow Canadian,

P.S. Did I ever tell you that I used to live
in New Bruswick when I was a little girl? ~
I lived on the shores of Shediac Bay.

Thank you Helen Honeybunch.....We all slip, believe me it's quite common.

It's nice to be able to remind each other through this medium.

Take care

Thank you Linda fellow Canuck. Glad you could relate to this ramble.
Aw yes, the shores of Shediac what a wonderful place to live! Love love love the seafood in that area.
I live in Fredericton but have been to Shediac many times and I have a daughter that lives in Moncton.
Why'd you leave us?

Take care

Ethome,

This is a very insightful write.

In particular, I liked:

"Be nice to your neighbours
they're your best link to unity
and the people most likely to work with you in time."

I don't know what I would do without my neighbors here in the hood.

Eric,

Reading this was like reading a highly-personalised wisdom letter, and it both unsettled me some and encouraged me. And it seems that thus it has been read by more than one. A veritable tour-de-force!

Mostly reminders of what we tend to take for granted.

Yo Eric,

A quick reminder though--you're not the ozone layer.  Such delusions of grandeur are not acceptable.
