I have this life
Vastly different than my former self’s plans

I have this love
That complicates my future for anything more

I stand romantically stagnant
Because one love can’t overcome another’s

I am alone
As I choose, because love couldn’t conquer

Good poem, short and sweet.

I feel I am in the same place.

It would be a perfect world if love really could conquer all, for there'd be no wars, no poverty, no illness ~ and no loneliness.

Love makes the world go 'round ~ Unfortunately, it is ofttimes in short supply.

Love 'n hugs,
Linda

at first, I thought, 'how fatalistic', then I re-thought, 'how realistic', and then I concluded, 'how stoic."  Any write that can take the reader on that ride is well worth the read...perhaps it took me on a path not of your original design, but I certainly enjoyed it

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Steavenr~ I think it's all of the above with the exception of stoic.  I am neither free from passion nor indifferent. I only wish I were.

What is love anyhow?
Something so simple becomes way too complicated you know? Yes you do

Love is truly over-rated as a noun, now as a verb, I kinda like it.
