In The Event Of War

I’m not one to start a fight
but will engage when provoked
this pile of wood placed at my feet
when lit did not burn just smoked

there is no hero, no Joan of Arc
yet, I can stand up, for what is right
with your great army few in my camp
one against many to a war you invite

arrow words slung deeply pierce skin
black dusty rumors storm so violent
I am bruised where underneath it bleeds
you can shake me but my soul sits silent

you staged the journey of this bloody war
where you are victor and I in your captor
not to lie dormant or weak on the field
strength regrouping for a different chapter

in search for my breath you look for death
bare Achilles heel blinds your crimson rage
waiting for the moment of precious many
to slip on my armor the battle to engage

surely this is the road to my destiny
the voice calls calmly now it is beckoning
walls will crumble fall flat where you hide
all will be measured in the time of reckoning

"no darkness has ever been deep enough to extinguish my personal knowledge of love"  Anne Rice

1slick_lady, there are many people just like that, they love confrontation and harsh words, even if you are not that kind, it is hard to dodge all their words and come out unhurt. There is a spark in us all that ignites when enough fuel is added. I enjoyed the read my friend and know what you are feeling, enjoy your life, you are much bigger than those little people.

Take care.

Rick

Good grief, have I had my armour dinted at those battles!  I can honestly tell you what goes around comes around, of that I am certain.  I have a tin sign above a bathroom Helen to remind me of those days.

Here you go, I took a picture of it so you can take it all in.

1slick_lady - I read much between the lines. I'm praying that things are well with you. As written, 'what goes around, comes around', sooner or later, but it does happen... Wish you the best...

As always,

When push comes to shove, I say it's time to meet the press.

Seriously.

You don't need to write a book (although I'd welcome that) just an article, or even a letter. You shouldn't have to go through this alone.

Words do hurt, Helen. And, the pain from them seems to last so long. As they say, what goes around, does come around. I do hope you are ok.

Helen,

The sea
feels nothing
yet drowns fools

Be the sea

And if they
looking for mercy
show you pictures
of their children
tell them teach them
how to swim

Yo dear 1slick_lady,

Someone's on the war path here, if I'm not mistaken.
