A State of Disarray

0 posted 2008-11-17 02:38 AM

In the white room
On the white bed
Aching to climb
Anywhere out of my skin
While words collided together
That never belonged...
Yet making sense
In a belief
Of what could be.

Always fighting to control
That taunting fear
I would do something else
I couldn't repair
...but usually did.

Then, in he came
He said mine was
"A powerful mind"
And gave me a chalice
My first dose
Of sanity in Blue.

I'd been a 78
Living in a world
Of perfect 33's
But finally I could become
A ventriloquist's doll
Who can choose
To keep her mouth shut
And not have to
Play those records at all.

Your mind game stirs the reader's mind too in a captivating way.

amusemi,

I kept coming back to this poem and - now - take the time to thank you for writing it.

I like it a lot.

A very intriguing poem. I know that feeling.."aching to climb anywhere out of my skin." A very interesting paradox presented also: "Can a ventriloquist's doll choose to keep her mouth shut?"

Thankyou everyone for your kind replies.

And yes Callista, she can, when the mind is tamed and no longer has a mouthpiece... It's a personal metaphor thing...that's all.
