I strolled down the depths of
a forgotten street and asked
my fellow brother of humanity,
Leaning against a brick building
Of his own,

“Isn’t it an enjoyable
night, my friend?”

He leaned over and grasped
my arm. He whispered with
Whiskey breath, “Every
night is a good night, but the
mornings are what bring us
to reality.”

I was startled at first, but looked
into his glazed eyes and answered:
“What is reality?”
