        No Return

The late Autumn view
winnows and empties
into Winter's eternal
  void
of frozen rock and
  bare-bone trees,
huddled together
under indifferent
  stars
in this thin-cold
  moonlight,
where even my shadow
seems spent and wasted
by relentless care
and remorseless Time,
along this final
unchosen path
of no return.

Yo Secondhanddreampoet,

There is no such thing as an "unchosen path
of no return."  It just sometimes feels that way.

I guess I feel that we do return though I'm not sure that's a cheerful thought either.
Anyway, Bruce, your poems just can't get sad enough to hide their beauty and truth.
