Sometimes in nice weather,
Bones won’t come up with a client,
and he doesn’t want to go home.

He needs a place to sleep.

Bones knows a crawl space
alleyway
between two row houses.

The alleyway is about
twenty-five inches wide,
and thirty feet long.

Bones has a big old
cushion back there.

It’s dark and quiet, and safe.

It’s safe because
there’s a big dog
that Bones has befriended.

The dog is penned up
behind a chain link fence
in a back yard.

When Bones is back there,
the dog is quiet.

If someone else
approaches the alleyway,
the dog goes nuts,
and scares the intruder
half to death.

Bobby

That dog was a defender of the good against evil. He recognized a good soul when he saw one!

I have one like that next door,(German Shepard) makes me feel safe. We're friends but he doesn't like strangers much and is always on guard.  Bones was smart to find that "safe place."

there's an old saying...

"If you've got a dog then you don't have to bark."

Thanks for the thoughtful prompt and the smile, BJ.

Thanks dear Linda,

Dogs are that way, they seem to have a sixth sense about people.  Yes, Bones was a good soul.

Bones was smart to know that a good dog makes a good friend - and they are more loyal than most humans.

Thanks dear Chopsticks,

Make sure you check with Bones before you give that big dog a Milk Bone.

I came looking for Bones' dog poem - after seeing Alison's comment in the one about Bones just wanting is for a pal.

I am SO glad that Bones and the dogalog have each other - not just because Bones has protection, but even more because they both have a wonderful two-way friendship.
