.

I went down
In the river
To pray

And a man
With a beard
Asking me said

What is it you think
You’re doing

And I realized
I had no idea

River water clear,
washing clean rocks, washing rocks
bubbles rise and fall

wavelets break on piled-up rock
and Sister whispers, Jesus

"I went down
In the river
To pray"

I've been reading this to pieces.

It's such a small word, but why

In the river? (If you don't mind indulging me with the question, that is.)

It's a teeny little word, but using "in" the river instead of "to" implies a baptism.

Is that the intent? ? <--*smile*
