Just another old scribbling found.Never polishedNever finished
***

In times of trial, folks offer comfort.
They say, "Tomorrows another day."
"Just hold on until the dawn"
"Things are bound to go your way"

But, there are those who suffer daily.
Trapped in bodies racked with pain
and the thought of a new day dawning...
is not a welcome thing.

Just another unsung hero,
that the world doesn't recognize.
No books record their private wars
but you can read it in their eyes.
Secret acts of bravery
No medals to display
Just another unsung hero
Fighting through another day.

They say, "What doesn't kill you
only serves to make you strong"
So they grit their teeth,
pray for strength
and wonder...
what they've done wrong.

What did they do to deserve this life,
where all they know is pain?
Just another unsung hero

and the song remains the same.

I turn up my collar
against the cold December rain.
At long last there's a monument
that bears the hero's name.
I lay my flowers on her grave,
Turn and walk away...
and praise God for the unsung hero
who gives me strength to face each day.

Thank God
for the unsung heroes
within each of our lives.
These are those
whom God has chose
to help us realize
that come what may...
we can find a way
down every rocky road.
Whatever cross you bear...
there's a hero there
who carries twice the load.

Love your take on the theme that life is difficult for everyone and to be human is to know suffering...You say it well.

Thanks for sharing your work!
