A world drifts slowly by my weary eyes,
Metal and wood leading me further on,
Of trees, quarries and quaint villages I spy,
Passing through as I head into the great beyond.

I wave away the man with drinks and cash,
Choosing to focus on life through frosted glass,
I ride with drunks, youths and families,
How I wish I could be amongst the upper class.

The journey is a constant stop and start hell,
'We apologise for the delay, this is down to trespass'
Eyes roll and voices bemoan the inevitable,
Stop messing about and drive fast!

The alighting points are most deliciously random,
Twelve platformed megasites of bustle
Or tiny single line cottages far out of beyond
All mocking those stuck in the morning hustle.

Standing room only for those who joined late,
Crammed like sardines in a tiny pool,
"That'll be three times the price please sir."
Who the hell are these idiots trying to fool?

We promise that there will be more for the commuter,
We shall reward those who choose not to drive,
You can enjoy a taste of body ordour and viruses,
All to make this one simple friendly life.

As a long time rider of these rented eggshells,
I know exactly how poor they can be,
Ten minutes after is not late they say,
When I am late for work it don't help me.

So to those who say we should pay our way,
Each time in the city we empty our purse,
No bloody way until this is sorted!
I ain't falling for another lie infested curse

That you use to convince those against you,
To steal a cheap vote in the election,
Give people choice and they'll gladly,
Instead of this monopolised selection.

I see you are in England but trust me, you are not alone, our transit system is not that great either.  Hope you vote the right people in to remedy yours.  I enjoyed your rant.
