Facade

Concealed and hidden from prying eyes
Inner thoughts covered in deep disguise
Masked by fallacious, artificial smiles
Inwardly disheartened all the while

Release me, open me, look deep, look hard, look behind this facade

Get to know me, understand me, see the real me,
Get beneath the surface to see what you can see
Recognise the truth inside, realise what I can be

Truth camouflaged, cloaked, unseen
Veiled behind the adept smokescreen
Superficial merriment is all that’s seen
All or nothing, no in between

Release me, open me, look deep, look hard, look behind this facade

I think you touch on what it means to be human.  It is always amazing to me how we think others who are close to us should be able to read our mind and know what we want, or what we feel, and we get mad or frustrated when they get it wrong.
