skittles, kisses, smiles and dreams
night-time shadows and witches' schemes
kettles, baskets, knocked-on doors
candy apples, popcorn balls and tasty smores

boos and whistles and "no one's home"
hearing catcalls, reading hallow's poems
soap and tissue and covered trees
lots of thank you's for our pleas

tricks and treats and all things spooky
doing things that seem downright kooky
dressed in costumes made of rags
playing jokes and pulling gags

can't wait for halloween's fine day
so my regular life'll seems normal some way
