The cobblestone streets were slick that night
looking down from that hotel room
drifting off to where his soul had seemed to slip

sitting there under the amber glow of iron girders
he waited in silence surrounded by a whirl of carousel lights
no thoughts of she and the train that awaited him

wandering down the long canal staff in hand
to ward off wayward gypsies and ghosts of forelorn lovers
no thought frought to murmur anything but numbness

sipping thoughts of the Seine
and the city he loves still
whispered on walls

Another traveller that brings intensely beautiful, melancholic impressions and imagery.

Great job.

I am always in for something special when I read you. You have a knack
for setting the scene as well as stirring emotions of the heart.
I can dig your pen name, and I do so enjoy your poetry.

Yo Martiniat8,

I've always felt very much at home in Paris.  It's much like Philadelphia, with our cobblestone streets, and dark alleys.

If you’re lonesome for Paris, visit Philadelphia.

"wandering down the long canal staff in hand

...what a cool stanza...a lovely blend of intrigue and ambience...going back to read it again
