A yellow orchard cascades over the hills
where the sun slants against the wind
and leans into the fading clouds
free falling into white ivory.

Like sweet cream
stirs the shoreline blue
and distant white caps
sweep the sand dunes
airbrushed in rieslings
brazen and bronzed.

I am reminded of sea glass
and the pastel shade of time
seeping into the sunset
like spun twilight
you were the elusive pearl
in a cove of dreams
warm and smooth in the sunlight.

I keep your smile in clear view
wrapped around the edges of my heart
and I miss you in unforeseen moments
captured in whispers of a calypso
rolling on waves of endless motion
set in powder blue and violet jewels.

Dear Lori, this is exceptional poetic language!

When you wrote this you were on an inspirational high.

I loved the images in the entire piece and of course with images of shore and sea I couldn't resist.  The above verse however left some very beautiful thoughts and pictures in my mind that and left with a good impact.  Well done

Absolutely superb cascading imagery!

Wonderful ‘write’!

I am especially fond of the beginning:

“A yellow orchard cascades over the hills
where the sun slants against the wind
and leans into the fading clouds
free falling into white ivory.”

V. serious and long-sustained applause
for this grand-fine ‘penning’!
