It’s just the energy inside
that escapes the jail of flesh and bone
seeking so in its release
the one who knows to give relief.

Grim-faced the jailer stands aside
preparing once again to be
the ”mopper-up” of spirit tears
for ‘tis the spirit that returns
to cry through the eyes
of womankind.

The jailer in the ways of old
locks and bolts the door to soul
and prays for strength to overcome
the beg and plead and demand
of incarcerated energy.

It’s very well to say, you know,
but empathic is this one jailer
working every day to be
unmindful of this energy
that encroaches on its will
to fulfil its function well.

So this jailer armour plates the heart,
crosses arms and stands unmoved,
but ‘tis the heat that chases it
back again off to the side.

Back and forth, back and forth;
it’s enough to sever life from flesh
from now until forever
and the jailer in the ways of old
must prepare to die
for it knows of spirit rights
that insist on and demand
permanent release
of the innocent!

A sadly, soulful poem here, Helen~

To lock up a person's spirit is a dreadful crime,
and yet the heart manages to survive against all odds.

Hi Bluesy!  I'm just trying to lock up my own spirit but I am a person so I guess I'm committing a crime - and that must be the reason why I'm not succeeding.  Someone or something is determined to keep my record clean.

Thanks for the read.
Hugs

There something so disquieting in this write, dear Helen. Your spirit is one with spirit divine and this awareness makes you impenetrable to any negative influence, trust, my friend.

Inhale peace and exhale troubles ... breathe love.

The armor of love is the strongest defense.

Love and hugs, Poetess.

It does sound a bit grim Helen but I enjoyed it just the same.
Love to you my dear.
