Pining

A willow tree
Can feel a breeze
She swings branches
Finger tips touch

Ripples echo
But fade away

The sounds of waves
How they crush her
But she reaches out

The water soothes
And calms spirits

And now for years
The lake has dried
Her roots sustain

But only air
Is felt by her

She weeps for it
Bows to the ground
To taste water
But it is gone

And now just dust
and more regret
