           Edge of Winter

Above the grand twilight horizon
in a coldly deep and darkling sky,
aimless threadbare clouds
ride a dancing-willow wind,
as frosty Autumn moonlight
paints these ancient hills
in ghost-shadow memories
of all the fellow fall ‘travelers’
who passed this way before,
bearing their final fading dreams
  and last regrets
along this razor’s edge of Winter;
untenable fate; and ineffable destiny
where one ultimately comes to stand
  …alone…
in such very fine company.

Yo Secondhanddreampoet,

This poem moves along very well.  What better company than yourself alone.

MY God, you take a thought and squeeze it for all the beauty you can find in it~

Much appreciative applause for this fine penning~

There is always a touch of sacredness in your poems, dear Bruce. And here I feel it too.

It is only an illusion when we think we are "alone" ... as we are always embraced by the divine breath itself and you know.

Wonderful write.

I agree with Marge, Bruce. You are able to find so much beauty in the simplest things and stretch into something magnificent.
