I always wanted to be a stranger on a train
and have you playing in my eyes
nonchalantly with mischief
and hemlines that we won't talk about
as you would read a book upside down

and ask me later to take a picture of you
for you to send to a lover there
so he or she would know you were thinking
and wanting to do things while riding
and would I mind taking a few more

then sometimes my mind drifts elsewhere
and I don't bother pulling it back
to the proper safety of one of my pockets
and you know how children are when alone
without some guidance to keep them in line

you say you love the boy of my mind
when he plays with chrome and glass
and wonders where it came from
and where he could hide it
and than find it again perhaps tomorrow

when we pretended we were trained strangers

Totally awesome, dear D.! Train stories are fascinating, full of glances and secrets, and they make the ride too often seem too short ...

Wonderfully fitting into the others of the white stone series.

I like the way you use language.  It probably complains later to its mother.

Daark,

Whoa! Had to pull myself back in to type out a response.  Once there was this train ... anyway, thanks for making me remember.  I love how your poetry takes me down a path.
