Two in the Morning

It’s coffee and lonely, at two in the morning,
As I sit in this café again,
I can’t help what I feel for you,
Trying to start anew,
And wondering if you’re doing the same,

I remember the day; you said go your own way,
My heart shattered like never before,
I just can’t explain,
Why it caused me such pain,
Thought we would be one forever more,

I couldn’t offer you much, just the love, and a touch,
Of a man, who would always be true,
I guess I was wrong,
To think your love was strong,
Or that you loved me as much as I loved you,

When you told me goodbye, you won’t know how I died,
Trying to figure out, just where I went wrong,
You said you don’t want to be with me,
Don’t want to see me,
I’m so lost and alone now that you’re gone.

What did I do, that made me lose you?
My lady, my lover, my friend,
Now it’s coffee and lonely,
At two in the morning,
As I sit in this café again.

Maybe a lovely, lonely lady will walk into that cafe some night, needing someone to talk to. Hope so. You write lonely very well.

Wow ... it's just 2.15 am here ... your words no doubt render your loneliness very powerfully.

Try 2 pm at the café ... a new smile might warm your heart.

Love,
