              LIFE

Life can be so very sweet,
Ask the fellow in the street.
A negative answer you will get from few,
For if your attitude is right
Your star’s forever shining bright,
For your success is entirely up to you.

As you climb that well worn slope
Up that great pathway of hope,
A track that is trodden by us all,
But you will find that the downhill run
Towards the setting of the sun
Is a journey that not one of us can stall.

You’ll always find some folk will reach
Without a hiccup or a breach,
The summit of their very own endeavour,
While other folks will trip and fail
And stray away from the beaten trail,
Lost upon the dark byway forever.

On reading this and you should feel
That you have lost a little zeal,
Perhaps you think your race has been in vain,
If you think you can’t then you will fail,
With another try success may prevail,
For the winning post is never reached without some pain.

Lindsay my good friend, great words of wisdom and thought, days can be a struggle and the roads rough, but as you say we must all eventually travel the same road and meet what will be there.
Be well my friend and take care.

Summed up in just one sentence.

For the winning post is never reached without some pain.

Nothing received freely is as appreciated as that which is earned.

"the winning post is never reached without some pain"

I often used to wonder why that seemed to apply but now I know it's because we expect it to be that way.  I don't expect pain anymore and so far it seems to be working for me.  I may not reach the winning post but that's something else to expect or not expect.

Enjoyed as usual, Lindsay.

Thank you, dear Lindsay, for your philosophy so beautifully rendered here. No doubt we have to trust our abilities and ACT, because nothing seems to fall just from heaven ...

Insightful offering.

Will you be my grandpa??     You seem like the wise fun good-hearted grandpa type!  Of course, you are probably too young to be my grandpa... after all, I'm 40 and a 40-year old can't have a 46-year old grandpa!  I already have a great dad - but I never knew either of my grandpas!  I ALWAYS love reading your wonderings and poetic philosophies!

Graeshine, I would love to be your Grandpa,
your PIP grandpa. I was born in 1929 so I am old enough for you to call me Pop. I have 11 grandkids calling me Pop now so you will be No twelve. Welcome to my family.

Midnightsun, thank you so much for your kind response, it is always so much appreciated.

Thanks to you all.

OHDearDearLindsay~
A gracious read ...

'For the winning post is never reached without some pain[

God knows that if pain is a measure, I've met my mark these last four months~
AND I am STILL in here trying~
Hoping the next week will find me realeased from this hospital and home among my loving family~
My new little apartment hasn't seen me much since I moved in ... I'm anxious to get 'home'~

What a loving gesture for you to Cyber-adopt graeshine ... there is no doubt you make a great grandpa!  No doubt at all !!
Extra special *HUGS* for you this day~

Marge, such a kind response from you means so much to me. I truly feel for you in that hospital bed and pray that you will be able to go home soon and be free of pain. About three months ago I got a very bad bug in my computer and I had to get a new hard drive, and in so doing I lost all my email address's, and consequently I haven't been able to send you an email. please send me one so I can respond. Love to you my dear friend.
