We ran out of duckies in
Ooltewa
(sweet Tennessee)
and management had caught a whiff
that we had taken in a corpse
ingeniously in animate
when he knocked upon our door
seeking shelter from the storm
too drunk to know that we're the eye
packing up black clouds with us
lassoed from the sky
he cussed
as we pulled him from the sea
so we tossed him from the boat

as I proclaimed

"Dead bodies float."

See ya at neap tide...

Yanno?

I don't even know how I feel about this one m'self, but I do know if I take a moment and write it without context, it's a "huh" moment for many.

And if I write a moment with context provided, it's argued that it's not *sniff"

poetry,

but narrative.

I'll try to backtrack a bit though, but this one was the one that wouldn't shaddup, so I wrote it.

All this, for you. *cackle*

And that was an allusion to what movie? Extra hugs to anyone who catches that.

*cackling*

Oh Shar...

sighing

I wanted so much to "pay it forward" that I guess...I dunno--I didn't realize until Ooltewa that I was assuaging my guilty conscience and not helping him.

I never know where the line is...

I know you know. I love you too.

smoochies

I am much better without a scrip...t.

I'm back to add an edited post script...

The fictional guy in this fictional poem just phoned. He's in a behavioral center now, receiving the necessary medical detox, and hopefully, he'll continue on to the rehabilitative care in the structured environment, that I, obviously, cannot provide, neither in fiction nor reality.

Love to all.
