it’s another day I have to be
weary to leave the house
and submit my college brain to college things
like “applied mathematics for the trades.”

but perhaps  if luck is with me
I’ll see that wonderful, not beautiful
pre-med girl, that coaches gymnastics
In her free time, for little to nothing.

I’m willing to bet or believe
if I left an uncomplicated piece
of my applied mathematics for the trades
under  one of her windshield wipers

she’d call me,
and say “I’m glad this wasn’t a ticket.”

The title "Applied Mathematics" almost scared me off! lol

~ But I'm glad it didn't or I would have missed out on this adorable poem!!!

Yo Viking_metal,

This is a nice poem.  Being a retired Engineer, I've always loved applied mathmatics.

It rubbed off on my youngest boy, he's a PhD math professor.

Earth Angel, Earth Angel-Thank you very much.

And of course, My good friend Bobby- You rock. I'm younger than your youngest son by at least 8 years...

great poem and a clever write...I once signed up for a course entitled 'Insertive Accounting' only to find out it was a typo for 'Assertive Accounting' and didn't teach me at all how to be insertive and now I go about forcing numbers on folks (who could really care less) se la vid

How come the poems here don't go to the top when you post in them? It seems odd....

LOL, the write and the reply from Steve gave me a hearty laugh.
The poems jump only when a reader replies, not when you answer the replies.
I enjoyed this, will look for more.
