She was always searching
for something
she couldn't find.
Light, hope, salvation...
something.
Running
down long, winding corridors
of dark, empty rooms.

She looked to those
who claimed to know the way
for answers
and finally realized...
they knew no more than she.
She never learned to look within
and depended on those who believed,
without thought,
in what they were taught.

So she wandered away,
finding comfort
through whatever means neccessary
and became lost.

quote:
She never learned to look within

Dear Ida, yes sometimes the searching takes a long time, but how important it is not to stop. Eventually truth will be found, as you say "within".

Wonderful piece, dear Ida, even though the conclusion isn't very uplifting ... but there is always hope to change things.

Love,
Margherita

Not in this case, Margharita. My mother passed away in "93" without ever finding what she was looking for. She had been influenced by a fundamentalist, religious grandmother and was never able to get past it.

Too bad, dear Ida, sorry to hear this. I do hope she is at peace now and KNOWS! Nothing is more dangerous than fundamentalism, as we can see all the time.

Love,

This is a very good, very sad poem, Ida, but the miracle is you weren't drawn into the web, or if you were, you escaped.

How much do people miss when they choose - or are directed to choose - a rigid narrow path? You have produced a sad poem Marchmadness but one with a warning many may be advised to observe.
