At fourteen,
the street has Bones
worn out in mind,
body, and soul.

The street is a very
cruel master.

It has absolutely no mercy
for man, woman,
or child.

You better
believe
that’s true.

Bobby

Thanks dear Ida,

Yes, I’m sure you do.

Bones insisted that the term “cruel master” be used instead of “cruel mistress” in describing the street.  He can’t imagine a woman treating a kid like that.

Thanks Ramisf,

No one really adapts to the street.  They may appear to, but they don't.

The street is very much a place of isolation.

A few years back, a study was made of where so called "geniuses" were raised.  It turned out that most were raised out in the country, or in the inner city.  Very few came from the burbs.

The reason for this was determined to be the isolation found in both the country, and the inner city.

The street is a lonely place for all.

Bobby
