Of Then and Now

It's what I have missed
that's lost in time,
heart so weighted
worded in rhyme
sometimes...

sometimes not
when words fail me,
the future cancelled
by words, thoughts
and actions
intentional or not.

Inborn happiness
seemingly lost,
a trail unspoken
paying more than its cost
again...

Again or not
trying to navigate
through weakness
to the strength of then,
for the losses of now
move my day forward once again.

M

I'm loving the last verse especially, M~.  It's full of power.  As always, you write so well!

Have a terrific rest-of-the-week.

"Inborn happiness
seemingly lost,"

So glad to see the word "seemingly" in there!  Felt your words, M!

So very powerful... and so very poignant. I especially like the 3rd verse!

Inborn happiness

When we are aware, as you are, of the inborn happiness, we will always be able to make contact again with this blessed truth.

Beautiful write.

very real and emotive 'penning'!

Two things I have never been accused of are that 'inborn happiness'
or 'optimism'!  I wish I knew what those felt like.  Nothing in my past
life (nor the "Runaway American Dream" & 'larger world'; nor human
history; nor recent 'current events') seem to foster/nurture those
characteristics...

but then again, at any given time, things are probably no more than
three times as bad as they seem!

Applause for this 'write'!
