a moment's must
Later, dust.

To abate the present now?
the rush, the gust,
the helplessness,
   unearthed trees within a flood;

Southward spinning,
Bridges hitting
    as mud wrestles mud.
A moment's must

Must amend.
Mud to dust does thin.

what a thought provoking concept...certainly an elegant way to describe the creative moments in our lives...as well as, what nature provides, both good and bad.

And by the way, Lady, thanks ever so much for the warm and loving comment you have left for me.

My best

nakdthoughts,

I'm glad my poem had meaning to you.     Sometimes I just have to take out my kneeded eraser and re-adjust the picture because I know life is ultimately good and that the challenging times will pass.

Thank you, M~, for commenting on my writing.  I value your opinion.

   Take care,

Lee J,

You need not thank me!  It's the truth.  I may not understand your writing at times, but there never has been a time when it did not flash me into another time or realm.  Your imagery has velocity!

Thanks for your response, as well.  I like the alliteration and assonance in this, but did not know if it conveyed meaning to others.  I'm not sure I even understand what I wrote, but that's why I write--to figure things out.  Sometimes, it is the sound that leads the words to me, and it is afterward when the sounds go forth that I find the meaning.   This is one of those occasions.

    Take care, Miss Lee J.

As I was reading this, I asked myself, "How long, exactly, is a moment in time?" So I googled "moment" and got about 528,000,000 responses. I realised it may take more than a moment to check them out - so I gave up. But I know that this poem gave me more than mere moments of pleasure and admiration.

Honeybunch,

It's great to hear from you again.  BTW, I loved that astonishing write of yours I read earlier today.  I earmarked it for my library.

David,

I had no idea there could be so many definitions!  And from moment to moment, I even find my own definition changing!  I'm glad you found ponderings in this little piece.
Thank you for taking time to share.

Miscellanea

I love this very, very much.  In spite of your description of its birth, I find it reeling with meaning, and as Maureen said, especially in the light of the recent and current hurricanes.

I am one that tries to not ever waste a moment when I can avoid it and your words strike meaning to the reason I go by that.  A very intriguing write and one well worth reading again.  It provokes the mind and that is always a good thing.

misce', even when I read a poem that I may not fully comprehend its full meaning nor the motivating force behind it, I am none the less impressed by it! Your words always have special meaning for me!

I wish you sailed these pages more often! It certainly is a treat when your perky poetic personality pops into pip!

Loveya!
