we were reachers for love water
like flowers with sponge mouths
but we were weed hungry
and blessed with some same entwine
that made our roots more in common
with the dirty side of earthly

you were always pretty and poised
except underneath your ribbons
you were beautiful and wicked there
with the mischief pendent in neon
and just the way I liked your hair
bedroomed with friendly winds

laughter was all we left behind then
on those windows full of eyes
and our little white stone too
on the bar by the bosoms
that leaned closer to our whispers
and made the yearning moan music

then complained to their gods
about how our hands were vulgar
lacing fingers between fingers
like there was nothing else in heaven
worth holding onto for very long
and besides where were our gloves

and what would keep us from loving

Every single line is a treat, dear D.! You are like a sea of poetry and I love to plunge into it, just feeling the tickle of every word.

Yes this series is fantastic.

Yo Dark Stranger,

This is very modern.  It works rather well.
