I guess I shouldn't have been listening
but you were my kind of ocean then
small enough to be personal
and you didn't mind how I held you

when we pretended there were storms around
and we had to keep each other company
you brought your laughter toys along
and I went hunting for treasures

you said they were not real at first
as I turned them over and kissed them
but then you said maybe sometimes they were
and did they bother my lips and eyes

and would I want another thousand more

This makes me think of the wonders that wash up on the beach after a storm. Kick the kelp and you never know what you will find! Listen to the waves and you never know what you will hear!
