A Trinity of Evil

Seems to me Earth society is ruled by “Powers” –
not the usual plethora of “forces”
operated by human beings –
something deeply nefarious, evil to the core;
something that sucks the marrow of life from individuals
thus keeping itself alive to wreak more havoc.

What are these “Powers” then?
Not Unknowns but quite familiar:

Let’s take the very First to show up in history–
Creators or life-givers: “God.” “Goddess.”
Deity or deities; spirit beings, hence, organized religion.
Ritualistic performance of meaninglessness
leading to social paranoia and collective madness.

The Second to appear, (consequence of the first)
is the Law Maker; the Ruler; the Despot:
Government and its bureaucratic assemblage.
As with the First, this one also claims
absolute right to life and death over others.
It demands huge sacrifices for itself
which it calls “taxes” and which no one
(but its favourites - the rich) may refuse.
It also determines the time, place and nature of wars.

The Third obviously is Mammon.  Money.  Filthy Lucre.
Credit would be His Most Venerable Name today.
He’s Everybody’s Friend and in His name
do people desecrate their planet of living things.
In His name do people become mindless consumers
in vain attempts to sate Him by sating themselves.

This is the Evil Trinity that rules Earth;
that controls the collective mind
through the imposition of belief systems
based on paranoia, fear and no substance.

Don’t believe it: look around.

WindWalker,

You express three popular, but silly suppositions.

a 'Universalist' !

There is nothing 'silly' about the points presented here!...

The scourge of history has been (and continues to be) the (negative) parochial focus on
human differences (in race, religion, nationality and such) which is a root cause of bigotry/
prejudice; intolerance, war; etc.  Humanity needs instead to focus 'Universally' on that grand-
scintillating cosmos beyond our humble 'lifeship' Earth [one order of magnitude greater than the
scale on which we desperately need to act (which is 'globally.')] Pursuant to our basal survival
needs as a species (and those of our environment), we are far more alike than different against that
infinite backdrop of (Deep-)time and space.  We should tolerate, embrace, and celebrate our diversity.

Applause for this 'penning'...

however, you neglected to mention the ('well cloaked') secret societies; 'special interest'
groups [and now, megalithic global corporations]; (the puppeteers) that, throughout
human history, have always controlled and manipulated the masses (marionettes)
via the tools of all the various 'isms' (particularly fear and ritualistic superstition/ignorance)
to their private ends (which they always assume justify any means).

Sorry Pal, no one is going to put down my Catholic faith without an argument from me.

I've had too many black eyes and bloody noses to let that pass.

Sad to say, but Evil is alive and well in this world and comes in many guises.

Another fine write of yours that makes me sit up and take notice!

Sadly the greatest evils in the world are prejudice and its twin bigotry and, naturally, all bigots have God on their side.

Earth Angel, TAD and DreamPoet have expressed my thoughts better than I could. Bobby? I don't think WW was taking aim specifically at Catholic faith. Religions of many kinds have rituals and focus on the differences between folks instead of what we all have in common.

Fine commentary, WW!
