Stranded

I feel totally stranded
at the edge of some flat world;
a world I am less and less inclined
or able to understand.
Some say the world is just fine,
it has been that way –
it will continue to be that way –
but I look out my window
and see a different story.

I heard someone say,
“the majority of humanity
is compassionate
and loves their fellow man,”
Yes?  If that is so
why all the endless violence?
And why do most
torture and destroy nature?

I think the people of Earth
are hopelessly delusional
about the state of their world.
I think the aerodynamics
of their social system
are totally wrong.

I believe the social Titanic
is about to sink
in a morass of humanity’s own making.

AMEN!!... why indeed?!

much applause for this statement of
unconscionably sad and sorry truth!

Amen again, WW. I think some people are just more able to see things as they really are and you are one of those people.

I'm inclined to agree with you but I do notice a slight change in humanity these days.  They are starting to come together for the good of all.  Small pockets of them to be sure but it is a start.

Your words are a part of that start so thank you for hitting home with a few truths.

Yo WindWalker,

Stop bad mouthing yourself.  You are a part of the whole.  You're no more "Stranded" than anyone else.

I find it rather distressing when I see or hear people proclaiming doom and foretelling the imminent end of the earth. The earth is still young and so are we as its inhabitants. Yes we do some stupid things but if there is no hope we may as well blow up the planet and sent it hurtling towards the sun.
I am one who has hope.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

The beginning of this write about 'sums it up' for me ...

"I feel totally stranded
at the edge of some flat world;
a world I am less and less inclined
or able to understand..."

continuing applause for this slice of unfortunate truth.
