I am trying to sleep
but silence is
creeping around the house,
filling up the corners
of the rooms
while trying to be inconspicuous.

My cat jumps on the bed,
I pet him,
and he starts to purr.
Silence disappears.
My furry little champion
has driven him away.

Hugs and kisses to your furry champion.  Loved your poem and am so glad your little furry champion helped out!

Ida,

I love my animal friends chase that silent time away -- unless I am sleeping in silent bliss and someone wants to be fed now!!!

This is a pure delight, dear Ida! Our pets, and I think especially cats, can bring real tranquility (if silence holds also a certain uneasiness, which I perceive sometimes) and warmth with their purrs.

But as Alison says, my usually sweet Zelda too can be quite fastidious when she jumps on the bed before waking time and she always wants to play with my feet under the sheets starting to bite them, ouch!!

I think a pet is a must when we live alone.

Love,
Margherita

Ida, I am not a cat lover, although neither do I dislike them. I just do not care as much as others about them. But I loved this poem and understand the feelings you send. "late"

Ida

It is wonderful to have a friend to break the silence and keep our hearts warm, we have dogs and cats here, never an empty place. Enjoyed the read Ida.

So beautiful Ida, it seems that silence can be a sordid companion, I like what did the cat....Thank you for the short and excellent poem...

Strange, isn't it, that we never understand the sound of silence until we experience it.
A good atmospheric poem

Gotta love how that purr can take away the stillness

Yo dear Ida,

This works very well, and I like it.

I love cats, and I'd have one, but my dog Hilda has put her paw down. No cat!

Love Bobby
