Memories...
I hold them in my heart
as I would a cherished lover.
Happy memories...
I don't want to let them go.
Sad memories...
I dare not let them go.
For you are there
in the shadows
of my remembering...
waiting.

Love your ponderings, dear ((((Ida)))). I think you are right. Sad memories wait ... to be elaborated and dismissed, but they often cling powerfully.

Thought provoking as always.

Dear Ida, I too hold my happy memories close.

However, the sad ones have a way of closing in on me. However, after reading your poem, I think I'll try not to run away from them. Both the good and the not-so-good memories are part and parcel of my live experiences.

Love to you, my philosophizing friend!

Enjoyed your words, Ida!  I guess all our memories make us who we are "today" but not who we'll be "tomorrow" because each day brings something new.

These memories are permanent. The only thing left to hold dear, wether good or sad, they are the remains and reminders. Thinking of you

I enjoyed this one, and the "Sad one ... I dare not let them go"  I really liked the wisdom in that.

I can truly understand this. Maybe that is why all those memories are still there. the good and the bad.
