the girl's relentless sobs
met by the guy's stony silence

1. pose questions
2. harness silence as a tool
3. calm her down
4. rephrase questions
5. prompt her to speak
6. ask him to give his perspective
7. summarise both accounts
8. explain gender differences
9. give recommendations
10. repeat process
