I once had a dream of how it would be
if love could truly love me
and I dreamt this dream in solitude
through the change of seasons and years.

In summer it was indeed in full bloom,
in the winter it shivered in fear,
in spring it thought to appear
and in autumn it all blew away
like a sign that love isn’t real.

It isn’t, you know, in this land of the free
where all are disbarred from the truth
and left to wander unaided, alone,
amongst the perceived insurmountable
irritations of daily life.

But love too is an irritation;
it annoys the hell out of me
literally, figuratively, and every which way
until I am totally clean.

Yet remnants of hell stick like glue
when I’m forced to live without you
and I remain irritated
beyond all human belief.

I once had a dream, an impossible dream,
in this here land of the free!

Helen

Another of your poems that I understand with my heart and feel in my memories.  This is beautiful - it reads with such flow and it has so much emotion.

Yes, I do like this poem.

How is it that after your heart is ripped out, you feel so much?

Honey, I have often found that when I have been dreaming the impossible dream that it comes to fruition in one form or another.

Sometimes not as I had hoped or envisioned, but life is full of surprises and my dreams have come to fruition in a most Divine way.

Sending lots of non-irrating friendship love,
Linda

Thanks, Gumpy.  I'm so glad that you liked it.

Linda - Thanks so much.  Yes, I'm very much aware that dreams come true in ways that we do not expect or even want but I run with them nevertheless because I "understand how the system works". I do, however, think the system needs some updating - yeah, to my way of thinking.

Love
Helen
