I'm not sure if this could be called a poem or not, but the main part of thisactually happened to one of my friends and I thought some of you would enjoy the humor. I spiced it up a bit, though, so not every part of true.

She should have been watching him.

She should have noticed what he was doing.

But she didn't.

It was an attempt to cook. She could hear the clattering of pots and pans being moved from left to right under the cabniets. She ignored the sounds, her back to the kitchen and her eyes glued to the sketching pad that was in front of her.

Should she complete the eye of the Untouchable girl, or just leave her with one eye?

Her toes tapped against the legs of the stool, curling around the wood, then releasing.

He found what he had been looking for. Something pounded against the stove, the noise causing a paulsing dull ache in the left part of her forehead.

The metal blade scratching against the tin of a can.

The grinding sound of the knob being turned.

The sloushing of the can's contents plopping into a pot.

He went to sit down on the couch, and she did not ask what was for dinner, her mind trying to figure out how to sketch her next masterpiece that would one day be hung in galleries around the world...or at least her best friend's gallery.

Something popped.

Her head turned in time to get a face full of baked beans. Her body dropped off the stool, and she sat on the floor, staring at the kitchen.

Beans were scattered around the kitchen, gooey.

Fragments of the croc-pot littered the floor.

Her father glancedat her.

"What did you do!?" she shrieked.

"I put the pot on the stove. Isn't that what you were s'pose to do?"

Heavens no, who would ever do that!?

Masterfully told, hilarious, you "croc-cracked me up"

It was great fun to read, but I imagine the moment itself wasn't all that funny!

Love,

Oh! The funny tales we do spin about cooking. The first time my son decided to bake a cake.I was at work and he decided he wanted a cake. So he pulls the box off the shelf..remembers to turn that ole stove down a 100 degrees. I get home his mournful cry is "it's still not cooked it's been baking for hours". My reply "Did you follow the directions on the box?"       No........
"How much water did you put in it?"
Just put water in until it looked right ...like soup. I laughed  and said.
"Guess we will just to drink the cake. But next time follow the directions."

::smiles::    enjoyed     I wont go into the first time I used a pressure cooker and forced it open... to  "stir my beans"   The only details I will give is that...  it was the first time I ever had to mop the ceiling.

BUAHAHA! Just thought I'd brag for a moment. Yep I'm that friend who had this happen to her. In all fairness Ayla, I wasn't supposed to be watching him until after the croc-pot, and cutting board incidents.

This is really funny and reminds me of the time that I was boiling eggs on the stove.  I was writing a poem and totally forgot about them until there was this horrible odor.  The eggs had exploded when the water boiled out of the pan and they were all over the ceiling.  The house smelled like the sulfer of a hotsprings for about a month.

I'm glad I could provide entertainment. Maybe next time I shall write about the cutting board incident that my friend spoke of above.
