I am From....

I am from apple-picking in Virginia, carring a salt-shaker and a knife in each pocket.

I am from the sunken graves overgrown, eroided, but not yet forgotten.

I am from jean-clad funerals, humming birds and doves.

I am from mysterious bruises, occasional cuts, and a relative who put the barrel to his head, and quickly pulled the trigger for reasons unknown to me, a man whom I never met, but knew I would love unconditionally, if I had.

I am from root-beer floats, the fizzy soda that tickles your tounge.

I am from intoxicating words being spilled onto the lined canvas, my heart, my soul, my endless dream.

I am from dog-eared paper-back books, when the light has gone and only the blood-stained moon is left.

I am from Irish lore, lilac bushes, forever burying my face in their scent, bean-trees and grape-vines.

I am from long-awaited stories of a long-dead loved one, just a scrap of memory, please!

I am from the cracked sound of beans being shelled, and the thud as they hit the paint-scraped basin.

I am from before lights out card games, laughter, and heart stopping voices.

I am from kittens licking paper, fluffy and short-haired, and purrs in my ear.

From over-populated cats, but oh-so-cute kittens.

From rough tongues licking my face clean, and tiny teeth nibbling on my fingers.

from taking strays in and giving them a home.

I am from pocket-knife sharpened pencils, coloring outside the lines, and stick figure drawings.

from vulgar curse words, country-slang, and the occassional British accent.

from watching bats chase after quarters, hearing their echolocation chirps.

from banging out to ICP, screaming at the top of my lungs, then falling to the floor laughing

from jean-wearing weddings, wearing the wrong shoes, and scraped palms and knees

from easily twisted ankles to a swollen spleen

from playing Runescape till the sun rises into the sky, getting level after level

from listening to the River Road traffic, and the bizzarr sounds from across the field

I am from the newly found Embassadors, from friends who joined my psycotic Portland fantasies without question.

from almost getting high off of attic mothballs

from the pirate and ninja war, where the pirates won

from Sunday Nascar, hoping my guy wouldn't wreck somebody

from watching football with my dad, routing for the Eagles and the underdogs, and taking bets from friends

I am from sticky post-it notes and heavy duty Sharpies.

from watching the lightening bugs light up the field, and straining to see the crackling fireworks over the tree-tops, red, blue, and green.

I am from mid-night calls from the Master, sitting outside on the porch swing, and talking about life.
from summer cleaning days where we Febreeze the
hell out of everything

I am from the depts of hell, but in fallen angel form.

from visions of a friend hanging, his body swinging to and fro

from late night phone chains and welcoming voices

I am from the womb of my mother and the influence of my father.

Lovely write you have here. We are so many things in life. Poet, story teller, mother, sister or the elusive kiss on the wind.
I have one called "I AM". I'll post so you can read. It is under Bonnie J.

Thank you so much for enjoying it! And yes, Bonnie! I will certainly read your I Am!! I have one of those, too, but I'm sure yours is more entertaining.
