         Spirit Winds

Intense, dark clouds sail
a deep October sky…
rolling their last long shadows
across the valleys, lakes and
   mountain tops,
to linger for a moment
just beyond the edge of this
   world,
in twilight-fading afterglow.

As splintered moonlight
chases shimmering shadows
through the darkling trees,
one feels the spirits in
   these ancient woods,
of all who passed this way
   before,
following their private,
   fleeting dreams...
lost to the frost-edged
   whisper
of an Autumn wind.

Bruce~
You had to know when you put thought to paper that I would find it to be sooooooo tender and lovely~

I did ... and I do~

A wonderful read~

This is incredibly...romantic!  I loved the language, sounds and flow of the entire piece.

I have felt those spirits, Bruce and I just wish I could write about it like this.

Love this, Bruce!  Nature and the mind combined!

I have often felt that way, walking through an unfamiliar place, or when I'm feeling left out. Someone, someplace, in another time, had tred where my feet have, and will forth again. I liked it very much!

Bruce,

You captured one of my favorite times of year - I am in love with the 'frost-edeged whisper' and I hear it often.  Sometimes in my dreams.
