It was a very good life before the fall
into this land of make-believe
where everything seems as it should be
but never can be without love.

And as the heart mourns I still am awed
at the immensity of it all
and how it stretches year in year out
to accommodate all I can feel.

So this rubber band of fantasy land
believes it will power the soul
to shoot into star studded bliss
but the news isn’t good
rubber bands snap
and we never get off the ground.

And the moral of the story is,
don’t put your faith in a rubber band
because love is the power
that shoots the soul …
but is it here, can it be found,
or is it a volcano that only erupts
when we’ve been stretched enough?

I never did trust those things, besides they dry out and snap after awhile

Very beautiful lines, dear Helen! Yet you make me smile, because of that certain degree of stubbornness that you show in closing a door, that needs to stay open. Love is the very air you breathe, it IS and it just wants you to be aware of it, not doubting it.

Love,
Margherita
